The Shield protects the Dreamer from extraction and protects Reality from unfiltered projection. It does not expose identity to make movement work. It transmits structure cleanly.

Dreamer names the authentic internal self: irreducible, non-performative, and not directly observable by others.
The Shield is the boundary between Internal World and Reality. Dreamer cannot manifest directly without distortion; unfiltered expression can damage Self, Others, or the field.
So the Shield filters bidirectionally. It protects inwardly and regulates projection outwardly. The goal is not to hide the person. The goal is to keep identity from becoming the payment required for movement.

Essence — Dual Orientation
The Shield has two orientations:
Protective
Inward orientation. No projection. Internal load is held without forcing disclosure. Gate OFF defaults here.
Projective
Outward orientation. Structure can transmit into the field when entry is coherent. Specific action still waits for authorization.

Protective Orientation
Protective orientation holds inward. It seals identity, protects dignity, and prevents projection when the Gate is OFF or the read is dirty.

Governance
The Shield is governed by orientation, not mood. The Operator does not get to project because the moment feels compelling. Orientation must be selected by the Gate, the read, and the state of the field.

nəc̓aʔmat determines whether entry is coherent. OFF returns to Protective.
Read
The field must be read through observables: bodies, timing, conditions, and effects.
Re-entry
REBar stabilizes return so exposure is not the cost of coming back.

Projection without Gate
The person is pushed outward before entry is coherent. Correction: return to Protective and restore the read.
Identity leakage
Private specifics become the price of support. Correction: remove specifics; transmit structure instead.
Over-protection
The Shield never opens, so movement cannot reach the field. Correction: smallest Projective step with refusal intact.
