Govern
Govern keeps the field safe, dignified, and predictable while respecting agency and preserving cheap re‑entry.
Encode limits‑with‑dignity. Audit cost signals. Keep Monday consistently cheap.
What / When / Looks like
- What it is: “Lifeguard mode” — respect agency while keeping the field safe, dignified, and predictable.
- Activates: Baseline holds; roll out baseline‑sustaining systems (routines, schedules, structures).
- Looks like: Sentry‑mode (stillness + swivel) — Patrol‑mode (move / change vantage) — Governor‑mode (enter, steady, detach).

Staffing gap pivot — zone defense activates
Coverage dip hits during an SEA break; 1:1 becomes impossible for a short window. We Brush the situation explicitly: “We’re down an SEA — what’s next?” Then choose a Govern configuration: teacher runs a small group at the table with one student who requires direct support, SEA supports another student with high needs, and I post right outside as a safety net.
Outcome: we switch from “mark” to “zone” defense with barely a ripple. Whole‑class support sustains because limits are clear, roles are visible, and the re‑entry path is always cheap.
North seat stewardship — resourcing and stamina
Admin recognizes a high‑functioning team and shares oversight with RT. Our cadence: I supply transparent data and perspective; North deploys levers within their jurisdiction (staffing adjustments, district resources, materials). Outcome: dignity and safety are preserved at system level — a posture play for stamina (“war”, not “battle”).
